Natasha Ragland
Painter of Joy and Fantasy
Natasha Ragland likes to catch moments of action and interaction of living things and show the personality of each individual. She has been passionate about drawing and painting since she was a youngster doing portraits of family members, teachers, and classmates. She did elaborate renditions of wildlife from Ranger Rick Nature Magazines. Her painting talents had been lying dormant for many years while she majored in Music, studying classical piano with six concert pianists at Palomar College, Fullerton College, and California State University, at Long Beach, earning her B.A. of Music Magna Cum Laude. She devoted much of her early career to songwriting, recording, performing, and teaching, now with several CDs to her credit.
When her dog died, she painted his portrait, and started to rekindle her childhood love of painting. She’s had the benefit of growing up surrounded by artworks and watching her father paint. Many people who have seen her work have been moved to commission her to paint portraits of their pets and family members. A patron, Susan Dzienius, said, “I was blown away . . . it’s beautiful . . . I was actually speechless. You really captured Comet.”
Natasha has exhibited at the San Diego County Fair almost every year in the juried fine art, often winning prizes. She has had one-man shows at Rio Rico’s Restaurant, Fallbrook Library, Edward Jones Finance, Z-Cafe, Bello Lei Beauty Salon, 2-person shows at Murphy and Murphy Real Estate, AAUW Garden Tour, The Merc in Temecula Old Town, Ronald Roberts Library of Temecula, the Georgina Cole Library of Carlsbad, and Artists’ Studio Tour of Fallbrook. She has work at Consign Design in Palm Desert, CA. She has shown work at the Bob Burton Center for several years, the Cow Palace of San Francisco, the Showcase House Tour of Temecula, Temecula Art Festival, etc. Natasha gravitates to joyful scenes with music and dance and celebration, especially featuring animals. She also has focused on landscapes recently of her local terrain: Rainbow, Fallbrook, and Temecula.
